Growth Generator

When I was young I played the piano for a number of years. Why did I stop? My teacher was not prepared to teach me how to play a boogie-woogie or any modern kind of music, just classical music – not what I was really interested in as an adolescent... Well, now I am in my forties, and you may call this a mid-life crisis, but now I want to make up for some of what I missed in my youth: Playing rock music as part of a band! A few weeks ago I started to take electric bass guitar lessons, and it is really great fun!

First I need to practice on my own to get to a certain level. Right now it would be pretty impertinent to expect colleagues to play along with me... Playing a stringed instrument is quite different, and my left hand needs to get a lot stronger still. At the same time I will be looking for KPMG colleagues to form a band. We certainly need one or two guitars, the drums, maybe a keyboard, and a singer. And of course a name for the band - any suggestions are welcome!

Once the band is compiled we will have to practice regularly to learn how to play together. Will it be possible to meet once a week? Down in the basement of our Zurich office? In view of our ultimate goal we may want to rehearse a repertoire of songs. What is the ultimate goal? To perform at one of our KPMG events in 2010 – hopefully with not too many discords, after such a short time...
